Meet Leiwaku

Leiwaku Noah is a wonderfully compassionate mother who pours her heart into caring for her four beloved children. But her nurturing spirit doesn’t stop there; she has opened her home and embraced three additional children, providing them with the love and support they need while their parents work tirelessly overseas. Leiwaku describes her family journey as a profound testament to "love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to one another and our community."

Leiwaku's story

In April, we met Leiwaku, a remarkable woman who traveled all the way from Vanuatu to Australia to receive breast cancer treatment at Bendigo Hospital. From the moment we spoke, her warmth and resilience drew us in, and it wasn’t long before we became friends.

Through our conversations, I learned of the immense challenges she and her husband, Pako, are facing. They made the difficult decision to leave their four children behind, believing they would only need four months for her treatment. However, the reality turned out to be much more complex, with chemotherapy extending until December and radiology treatments following until March 2025, leaving Leiwaku away from her children for nearly an entire year.

Leiwaku and Pako hoped to bring their children over the holiday period to celebrate Christmas together in Australia. Unfortunately, the funds they initially raised through GoFundMe have dwindled, leaving them struggling to cover ongoing medical expenses, such as oncology appointments, pathology costs, and basic living expenses. As non-Australian residents, they are burdened with the full cost of treatment, and visa restrictions prevent Leiwaku from working, making their situation even more difficult.

This is where we can all step in to help Leiwaku and her family. We have organised a fundraising event to support her through this challenging journey and ensure she can continue her treatment without the added stress of financial strain.

You can make a real difference in Leiwaku’s life! Here’s how you can help:

  1. Spread the word: Share this message with your friends and family to raise awareness about her situation.

  2. Donate through GoFundMe: Every little bit helps and goes a long way.

  3. Join us for the Flower 4 Friend & Christmas Market on December 14 from 10 AM to 4 PM at our farm. You can support this event through

  • donating items such as handmade craft items, festive Christmas decorations, fresh produce, gift vouchers and more by December 9.

  • booking a spot for market stalls (limited spots available) which up to 50% of your sale will go directly towards supporting Leiwaku.

  • buying fresh flowers and goodies on that day and encourage each other with lots of smiles.
